To get your boxing classes kick started in your gym or studio, here are our top 3 tips;
BE PREPARED
Have a class plan and then multiple back up plans. Classes can change depending on participant energy levels, experience and the needs of your clients. Being prepared not only takes the stress out of your sessions but clients will sense your commitment and enthusiasm toward the class and want to share this with you.
LISTEN
This is incredibly important to assist in building client rapport and in establishing a sense of community within your class. Listen to your client’s feedback, concerns and importantly listen to any injuries your clients may be experiencing. A good coach is able to listen and act upon feedback from clients without allowing this to detract from the rest of the class. Effective listening will not only assist you as a coach to continuously improve your classes it will also assist in ensuring client’s develop safe boxing skills and as we know, safety is paramount.
TEACH
Experienced or inexperienced, your clients are looking to your expertise to teach effective boxing combinations. Offer feedback, regressions and progressions for clients. Interacting with your clients through cueing technique, providing positive reinforcement as well as providing a space for clients to develop their skills is essential to ensuring your clients will continue to attend your boxing class.
